Seasonal Employment Program
Swap your desk for Victoria’s great outdoors
Our Seasonal Ranger program runs every year, where we provide the opportunity for enthusiastic people to become Seasonal Park Rangers and help us protect Victoria’s incredible natural places.
This exciting program sees Seasonal Rangers working in some of Victoria’s most unique landscapes – from desert dunes and mountain-tops, to coastal landscapes and ancient forests. The jobs are based all over Victoria and open to people of all backgrounds – all you need is a passion for people and a love of our amazing outdoors.
What is the difference between a Seasonal Ranger and a 'normal' ranger?
Seasonal Rangers are employed to be part of our workforce during the peak visitation periods. They assist in the overall management of the work area with emphasis on customer service, education and interpretation, visitor and facilities management.
Contracts are consistent with our summer season and peak visitation periods, where we generally offer 12-Week Fixed Term contracts between December and February.
What does a Seasonal Ranger do?
Seasonal Rangers are responsible for contributing to Parks Victoria's visitor services including helping visitors to enjoy and understand parks and natural values, making sure that the natural environment and cultural sites are protected. They plan for and deliver visitor and park services to contribute to the delivery of the team through strong work ethic.
Seasonal Rangers also have the great opportunity to deliver activities requiring a level of environmental and service expertise, so that they can support the conservation of Victoria's special places. They are also able to get their hands on some of many of Parks Victoria’s exciting projects! This includes building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, and displaying a thorough understanding of organisational purpose.
Every day is different for a Park Ranger. You’ll help to build and maintain tracks, trails and camping areas, help keep our visitors safe, protect the environment from weeds and feral animals and welcome and share stories with the many visitors to our parks.
Applications for the 2022/23 Seasonal Ranger program have now closed.
