Parks Victoria historic sites closed

At the direction of the Victorian Chief Health Officer, Parks Victoria has closed major historic sites in parks and reserves across Victoria until further notice. 

These actions follow further restrictions on domestic and international travel, with Victorians urged to reconsider all non-essential travel.

The following closures will apply until further notice:

  • Point Nepean - Entire site
  • Werribee Mansion - Werribee historic precinct including Mansion, historic gardens and outbuildings are closed (Victoria State Rose Garden and public regional park are open)
  • Days Mill - Entire site
  • Andersons Mill - Entire site
  • Coolart Homestead - Homestead only
  • State Coal Mine - Whole reserve
  • Buchan Caves - Whole reserve
  • Steiglitz - Buildings only
  • Lighthouses and associated buildings - All lighthouse complexes
  • Ferntree Gully Education Centre - Building only
  • Kurth Kiln buildings - Buildings only
  • Eldorado Dredge - Entire site
  • Mt Buffalo Chalet  - Chalet only

 

Other locations:

  • Serendip Sanctuary - Whole reserve

 

Closures will be enforced. Compliance with this directive is enforceable under section 203 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and penalties apply.

Other areas within parks will remain open to allow for exercise, but social distancing must be practiced and those who are unwell, particularly with flu-like symptoms, must follow the advice from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer and remain at home.
