Trentham Falls are part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape in the traditional Country of the Dja Dja Wurrung Peoples. Parks Victoria respects the deep and continuing connection that Traditional Owners have to these lands and waters, and we recognise their ongoing role in caring for Country.
Trentham Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Central Victoria, and a must see when you’re visiting Trentham or Daylesford. A popular destination in Winter and Spring, when the falls show their true power and presence.
Trentham Falls is the highest single drop of any waterfall in Central Victoria. Plunging more than 32 metres down a basalt cliff, it has formed a ravine several hundred metres long. Either taking the steps or the gently sloped path, glimpses of the falls can be seen as you meander your way down from the carpark. Take a seat on the benches provided or stand at the lookout whilst you take in the beauty of the falls and nature around you.
This 24Ha reserve contains more than 80 species of indigenous plants with some of the largest eucalypts remaining in the area, creating a home for many nocturnal mammals and a wide range of birds.
The falls were no doubt visited by the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the traditional owners of this area. Since European settlement, the falls have been a popular destination for tourists and local residents.
Picnic tables and fire pits are available for a BBQ or picnic under the shade of the tree canopy. If you’re planning to use the fire pit, you will need to bring your own wood with you. Dogs are welcome, but please keep them on a lead.
As waterfalls are within a natural environment, you may encounter hazards. Please read site signage carefully and remain on formed tracks.
