Grampians Peaks Trail School and Group Information

Schools including clubs and independent groups, wishing to undertake the Grampians Peaks Trail have the option of walking and camping on trail or camping off trail in designated group camps or private accommodation nearby.

To walk and camp on trail, group sizes are up to 10 people, depending on site availability.

Groups camps are available in the northern section of the trail between Mt Zero and Halls Gap, and the central section between Halls Gap and Jimmy Creek.

Groups campgrounds for schools and groups close to the Grampians Peaks Trail are:

  • Stapylton Campground (6 group camps, 16 pax each)
  • Coppermine Group Camping Area (2 group camps, 16 pax each)
  • Troopers Creek Campground (2 group camps, 16 pax each)
  • Longpoint West Camping Area (5 gravel tent pads, 16 pax total)
  • Stony Creek Group Camping Are (8 timber tent pads, 16 pax total)
  • Borough Huts Campground (Numerous 6 pax tent sites)
  • Jimmy Creek Campground (Numerous 6 pax tent sites)

Off trail accommodation

Halls Gap, Wartook, Roses Gap and Dunkeld offer private accommodation for school groups including school camps that can support and link to your Grampians Peaks Trail experience. Bookings and fees

There is no cost to walk on the trail, however hike-in campgrounds and campsites attract a fee and must be booked prior to undertaking the walk. Bookings are now open and can be made online or by phone 13 1963.


Register your school group

All school groups must register their trip with Parks Victoria at parkconnect.vic.gov.au. For further information on group options contact Brambuk the National Park and Cultural Centre in Halls Gap.
