At the very edge of Wilsons Promontory National Park architectural luxury meets wilderness at Just Inside the Gate. Situated just inside the National Park entrance on 97 acres of the most southerly freehold land on mainland Australia. You are invited to come and spend some time relaxing and adventuring on the edge.

Just Inside The Gate is a self-catering eco-lodge accommodation past Yanakie and on the border of the national park. Book just the East Wing for up to four people, or the the East and West Wings - the whole house - for up to eight people.

The two accommodation wings are separated by two independent lounges with a central entrance and purpose designed mud room, perfect for gear storage after a day trekking in the park.

The bedrooms in each wing enjoy rural, mountain and inlet views, all have luxury bathrooms with solar hot water to provide a great end to each days activities.

Two guest lounge areas offer the comfort of leather lounges with ceiling fans for summer and the warmth of environmentally friendly gas log fires in winter. Each wing contains a modern kitchen with European appliances and there is an expansive deck, with a gas barbecue, overlooking the national park and bordering farmlands.

Big Drift Walk

Starting at Stockyard Campsite near the park entrance, follow the signposts to the northern flank of Big Drift, an extensive series of inland sand dunes. It’s easy to get lost in Big Drift so be careful to mark your path to find the track out again. There is no beachaccess from Big Drift.

Darby River to Tongue Point

Commencing at the Darby River car park, a sandy track follows Darby River as it winds its way to the coast. The small exposed beach is embraced at each end by rocky headlands. Please stay on the beach and avoid climbing fragile sand dunes

Day walks at the Prom

There are many walks around the Prom. The walks provide a perfect opportunities to view native wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, emus and wombats as well as some spectacular views.

How to get there

Just Inside The Gate

Wilsons Promontory National Park is approximately three hours drive from Melbourne. Follow the Monash Freeway (M1) to join the South Gippsland Freeway (M420/A440) to Meeniyan. Take the Meeniyan- Promontory Road (C444) to the Wilsons Promontory Entrance.

    Little Oberon Bay Walking Track (Norman Point to Oberon Bay) Closed

    Little Oberon Walking Track is closed between Norman Point and Oberon Bay until further notice due to significant erosion to the track. 
    Oberon Bay Campsite is only accessible via Telegraph Saddle Walking Track until further notice. 

    Stockyard Campground Closed

    Stockyard Campground closed to campers.  The area remains for access to the Big Drift.  Bookings for camping at Tidal River can be made online.
