Seasonal road closures 2021

Some roads in this park are subject to seasonal road closures. Seasonal road closures generally operate after the long weekend in June through to the end of October, but may be extended due to seasonal conditions. Visit the seasonal road closures page for maps and more information.

Aircraft Operations - Temporary Walking track closures

Parks Victoria has aircraft operations scheduled for Wednesday 29 September 2021 to enable Grampians Peaks Trail construction crews to transport materials into remote hike in campsites currently under construction. 

For visitor safety, there will be temporary closures across a range of sites (as listed below) throughout the day. Closure signage will be in place and crews will be on ground to manage traffic and closures.  

  • Mt Difficult - See map attached. From Briggs Bluff Track junction, Including Mt Difficult Summit, Longpoint East and West to Mt Difficult Road. 
  • Lake Wartook - GPT alignment currently closed to public access
  • Barbican Rocks - GPT alignment currently closed to public access
  • Mt William - Mt William road, summit area closed temporarily 
  • Yarram Gap - GPT Alignment currently closed to public access 
  • Mt Abrupt - Piccaninny car park and walking track closed (east side to summit). Access to the Piccaninny still available from Victoria Valley Road Trailhead.

Pest animal management

Pest animal management will be taking place throughout the Grampians National Park and Black Range State Park. The works will be taking place in pre-determined sectors and signage will be in place to notify visitors of any operations in the vicinity.

Visitors may hear firearms. Visitors are asked to stay on designated walking tracks and roads.
