Rotamah Island Homestead Picnic Area (Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park, The Lakes National Park)

Rotamah Island is a bushland delight accessible by boat only. Enjoy a relaxing picnic or BBQ by the lake at the picnic area or explore further one of the short walks (up to 1.5hours return) or do the whole loop of the island (3 hours return). Visitors are advised the homestead is not open to the public.

Little Rotamah Track closed until further notice

Little Rotamah Track including all boardwalks and bridges is closed from 29 August 2023 until further notice due to safety.

Golden Beach Camping Area 3 Closed

Camp area 3 near Golden Beach within the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park is closed. Please camp in one of the other camping areas close by. Toilets are accessible from camp area 2.

Bird Hide Track and boardwalk closed until further notice

Bird Hide Track and boardwalk in the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park are closed from 29 August 2023 until further notice due to safety.  There is no access to the Rotamah Shore Bird Hide within the closure period.

Golden Beach BBQ's are closed

 Golden Beach BBQ's are currently closed while repairs are being undertaken. Waiting for parts the closure could remain in place for several weeks

Ground shooting operations targeting deer

Ground control operations targeting deer will be undertaken in these Parks and Reserves from December 2022 to December 2023. These areas will remain open to visitors during operations.

Road maintenance and construction equipment will be encountered on Lake Reeve and Lake Victoria Tracks within The Lakes National Park from August 21 2023. Whilst the Lakes National Park or these vehicle tracks will not be closed visitors should expect periodic delays while works are being undertaken.
Please comply with all signage and staff direction.
