Key information
Works will include wrapping and repairing damaged piles where possible and replacing other piles. Works are anticipated to take approximately eight weeks, weather dependent.
Access restrictions
Access to the commercial lower landing for ferries will remain open.
The pier will be restricted at times during second phase works.
Signage will be on site advising the public of access closures.
Other information
An important pier in Victoria’s maritime history, Gem Pier was named after the steamboat Gem ferry service that ran between Williamstown and Port Melbourne.
