Olinda Precinct Project

The closure of the Olinda golf course presented a rare opportunity to create a public space to suit the needs of the whole community. The Olinda Precinct Project will transform this site into 34 hectares of community parklands.

  • Stage 2: January - July 2019
  • Community consultation – three phases which led to the development of the Precinct Plan that guides the current redevelopment. The results of the consultation expressed strong support for all elements of the project.

Key information

The Olinda redevelopment consists of three key stages:

Stage 1: a sports oval for junior sport and training, featured on the ‘Olinda Green’

a flat open grass area with walking paths, suitable for a market, events space and other passive forms of recreation. Lighting will also be installed on the oval to cater for football training and other sports. Commencing December 2019.

Stage 2: a nature-based playspace
Designed for children and families of all ages and abilities, new BBQs, picnic facilities, shelters, seating and a new toilet block. A dedicated dog-off lead area and a series of walking trails were also constructed. Completed July 2019.

Stage 3: Netball courts and cricket nets upgrade
Replacing the existing netball court with two new courts (reorientated) within the Olinda Recreation Reserve Precinct. The existing cricket nets will also be refurbished. Commencing April 2020.
