Key information

The pedestrian bridge will provide safe all-weather connection for the township to the Port Campbell National Park and Discovery Trail and will be DDA compliant

The design will hero the landscape – construction and materials have been designed with a light-touch to limit impact to the environment, and the open balustrades allows the natural and cultural values of the coastline to remain the focus.

An escarpment stairway will connect the pedestrian bridge to the Port Campbell National Park, with rest stops along the way to take in the views over the bridge, township and harbour.

The projects within the Shipwreck Coast Masterplan will conserve and protect the national, coastal and marine parks. The coastline is a linear, fragile and vulnerable cultural landscape. A priority of the master plan is to protect and conserve this fragile coastal ecology in response to visitor usage and ongoing erosive natural processes.

The Government is collaborating closely with the Traditional Owners from the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation ensuring cultural heritage is maintained, respected and celebrated at each of the construction sites.

The Shipwreck Coast Master Plan (SCMP) is a comprehensive 10-12-year program delivered in partnership with Parks Victoria, Victorian Government, Tourism Victoria, VicRoads and local councils.
